Celebrating New Leadership
Friday, July 11th — Presidential Kickoff!
Join us as we welcome incoming SOMA Rotary President Pablo Wong at a celebratory gathering at The Sequoias (Geary at Laguna), Skyroom – 26th Floor, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect, celebrate, and look ahead to an exciting new chapter.
At the same time, we honored and thanked outgoing President Estephan Sarkis for his dedicated leadership over the past two years. Thank you, Estephan, for your energy, heart, and unwavering service!
“Christmas in July” – Toy Drive at Atwater Tavern
Saturday, July 19th, 11:00 AM onward
Bring joy to children this holiday season by participating in our Christmas in July Toy Collection at Atwater Tavern. Bring a new toy or a monetary donation and receive a complimentary drink! All donations go to ensure kids receive toys at Christmas — a heartfelt way to give back while enjoying a summer afternoon with fellow Rotarians and friends.

Monday, August 26th — SOMA Rotary Board Meeting
We’ll gather at 6:00 PM at Perry’s (1944 Union St, between Buchanan and Union) for our monthly board meeting. All members are welcome to attend and get involved in shaping upcoming initiatives.
SOMA Rotary in Action: Ongoing Projects
Community Support – SOMA Family Resource Center
We continue to support up to 500 families annually in the South of Market area by providing essentials like baby formula, diapers, strollers, and food. A big thank you to SOMAtarian Melinda Lee, who partnered with Microbe Corporation to donate 200 brand-new children’s outfits to the center this month!
College Student Support
Our scholarship recipients, like Markyla Banks, receive continued assistance through equipment and resource support as they pursue higher education.
K–12 Educational Support
We provide skill-level books to 3rd graders at Malcolm X and Bessie Carmichael Schools to support literacy and learning at a crucial stage.
Operation Genesis
Each month, we host a pizza night for at-risk youth in the Bayview, offering food, connection, and community.
Old Skool Café
We’re proud to support this inspiring rehabilitation and employment program for formerly incarcerated individuals — especially their house band, helping them perform at gigs and events around the city.
Bayview Mission – Backpack Drives
On Mother’s Day, we fill backpacks with toiletries and treats for moms in need. Come back-to-school season, we collaborate with BMagic to supply students with backpacks full of school essentials, helping them start the academic year with confidence.
